A book that is definitely worth the read.

Check out my book review. It’s posted on my writing blog.
My oldest son (Big A), wrote me this letter after getting in trouble yesterday. It says: “I’m sorry that I said that. It won’t happen again. I love you and if you appreciate me for writing you this then the least you can do is unground me.” I immediately broke out into hysterical laughing. Yes, it was cute. It was smart. It was clever and hilarious. No, I did not unground him.
The incident started when he informed me that he wasn’t going to finish cleaning his room because it was going to take up his entire day. This spiraled into a small tantrum and the end result was being grounded for the rest of the day.
I love how smart he is and the big words that he uses but I also know that I have to be the responsible parent and make sure that when I punish my boys I stick with it. Otherwise, they will think that’s what will happen every time. I also know that I am not the only mother who feels this way. My husband is the soft one but that’s another post for another day.
I did, however, fold up the letter and tuck it safely away in my journal. One day I will look back on it with him. It’s a memory that I don’t want to forget. There are a lot of those.
So, what do you do when your kid does something cute and you want to take back their punishment or not punish them at all? Do you find it hard to keep a straight face when you give out the punishment? I’m sure that there is a clan of mothers out there just waiting to welcome me in haha I never thought I would believe it but my parents were right. Sometimes, it hurts me more than them. HA!
This is my first post here. Yay! I have decided to transform what was my old blog into this new and improved blog. Sounds like a great idea, huh? Yeah, I thought so, too. I have another main blog that I use to share my writing, writing tips and other things on. You can find it HERE or on my About Me page.
The reason I decided to transform this one is because I have a lot of readers on my other blog and I don’t want to confuse them when I start posting ‘mommy’ stuff. However, I have a lot of things that I’ve been wanting to share but couldn’t really find the right place. So, I made one right here.
I hope that we can all share some laughs together and maybe swap stories and advice. Being a parent is hard but when you throw in a career, a husband, a zoo and all of the other things…it can be the most challenging thing that you will ever do. However, it is also the most rewarding.
Well, here goes nothing.
